Review: Not quite sure what to make of this series as of yet.
I understood Abby as a character, not personally but I’ve seen it. I understood why she was the way she was and how little she believed in herself. Dante was a regular arrogant vampire who had to have his way in everything. The plot was simple, not that well excecuted. Some of the characters made you grin and snicker. The action scenes, however, were great. I love a good fight – or more than one – however many there are. There had been a twist in the plot, but it wasn’t very original and I wasn’t surprised at what came about.
And I no longer want to see the word ‘lover’! That was all Dante called Abby, and by halfway through the novel, I was so tired of it that I wanted to climb into the book and shove a sock in that cakehole he calls a mouth – fangs or no fangs! I am now completely sick of that word. And for some strange reason, this is supposed to be Book #1 of her ‘Guardians of Eternity’ series. Other than the mention of Dante guarding the ‘Chalice’, there is absolutely no mentioned of being a ‘Guardian of Eternity’. Talk about frustrating…
It wasn’t that bad of a book, and I wonder if it’s because I’m just coming off of Kim Harrison’s ‘Rachel Morgan’ series that would explain why I feel disappointed. I’ll give the second book a try once I’m done the Books of the Month for February.
